The 'Building with Wood', promoted by the English Confederation of Wood (Confemadera
) and integrated within the English Council for the Promotion of Wood held last October 19 at the Eduardo Torroja Institute (IETcc) Aulamadera the fourth session, training cycle aimed at professionals in the construction sector promoted by the Eduardo Torroja Institute and the project "Building with Wood."
As in the previous year, the hall of ISE completed its capacity to hear the explanations of Luis Vega (Ministry of Housing), who spoke on "Peculiarities of structural design of wood in relation to other materials" and gave an overview of the "coincidences" and differences of structural design of wood over other materials, as well as the peculiarities. In his clear and concise presentation, Luis Vega transmitted to the audience the idea that differences are not too important and that knowledge of other materials such as concrete and steel, helps to understand the structural design of wood without incident. Later, Francisco Arriaga Martitegui (Professor of Structural Analysis of the School of Forestry, UPM, Madrid) explained in a practical way to present the particularities of design and calculation of the joints with wood, contributing numerous guidelines for proper design and calculation, these aspects will be included in the next chapter-and-edition of the 'Guide to Building with Wood'.
